Leisure time on the water, whether drifting along alone or vacationing with family and friends, has inspired many an artist, from Thomas Kinkade to Claude Monet. At Seven Crown Resorts, we like to think we have perfected the art of houseboating, and we are looking for some visual representations of that experience by young artists. Our contest is simple: Students from kindergarten through high school are invited to submit an original work of art that depicts the houseboating experience, drawn from their own past houseboat trip or simply their imagination. It can be simply a crayon drawing, a watercolor, or even a collage. The only requirement, aside from the size (see below), is that a houseboat appear somewhere on the page. There are many photos of houseboats on our website here, which can be used as a reference. We're awarding a Grand Prize in each of two categories, one for entrants in grades K through 6, and one for grades 7 through 12. The Grand Prize, valued at $3050, is a one-week vacation on a Grand Sierra houseboat at any Seven Crown Resorts location for the winners and their friends and family. Here's how to enter. Click here for an entry form and submit it by regular mail along with one original piece of art measuring no less than 8x10 inches and no more than 9x12 inches. Within those dimensions, the artwork can be in any medium -- crayon, pencil, poster paint, oil, acrylic, collage, etc. -- on any type of material -- paper, canvas, wood, etc. The artwork must be the original work of the child named on the entry form, although the child may have assistance in preparing and submitting the form. The art piece and entry form should be mailed to Student Art Contest, Seven Crown Resorts, PO Box 16247, Irvine, CA 92623. All entries must be received by 11:59 pm, May 19, 2008. The Rest of the Rules: While you retain the rights to your artwork, by entering you are giving Seven Crown Resorts permission to post the artwork you submit on our website, whether you win a prize or not. No artwork will be returned, unless accompanied by a large, self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage. For a complete set of the contest rules, click here.
