Interesting Sights
Lake Mead is created by Hoover Dam, one of the country's modern
engineering wonders. Due to its overall depth, it stores more water
than any other Colorado River reservoir. Both land and boat tours
of the dam are conducted daily.
The Grand Canyon, which is located nearby, is absolutely breathtaking.
Millions of years of earth movement, the weathering of storms, and
erosion by the raging waters of the Colorado River have combined
to create a display of remarkable beauty.
The Valley of Fire State Park is a worthwhile side trip by car,
and it is located just a few miles north of Echo Bay Resort. The
name derives from massive red colored rock formations. Many of these
rocks bear ancient Indian carvings.
Nearby, dazzling Las Vegas features gaming of all sorts, and name
entertainment and reviews.
On the Arizona side of the lake, the nearby mining towns of Oatman and Chloride provide an exciting look into the life of the Old West. Or stop by Kingman and see the heart of historic Route 66.
